Who I Help
Functional Patterns meets your body where it is. These are the people and challenges I work with most, each with a focused path built on the same whole-body fundamentals.
Posture
Rounded shoulders, forward head, a collapsed stance. We retrain the gait and breathing patterns that hold posture in place, instead of just "sit up straight."
Improve your postureScoliosis
Corrective, myofascial and gait-based work to improve spinal alignment, symmetry, and day-to-day comfort while living with scoliosis.

What Clients Are Saying
Real client stories from my training practice.
I can’t say enough good things about Viktor.
At Syracuse Biomechanics. He is incredibly knowledgeable in the practice of Functional Patterns and has a way of explaining things so that you actually understand what your body is doing and why.
I’ve really noticed difference in the way I have been moving and feeling since working with him. He pays attention to the small details of all the movements and really cares about helping you improve.
What really sets Viktor apart is the kind of person he is. He is patient, generous with his time, encouraging, and truly invested in the people he works with. It’s rare to find someone who is both this good at what they do and this genuinely kind.
If you’re considering Functional Patterns or looking for someone to help you move and feel better, I highly recommend Viktor. He’s the real deal.

"Victor at Biomechanics has completely transformed how I approach training. I am 58, not always disciplined, and often tried to go too fast with my exercises, but Victor immediately corrected me and taught me to slow down so the right muscles actually fire. He is a real professional, very kind and intelligent. This is not typical physical therapy. During his thorough assessment, he identified which muscles I was overworking and which were weak, helping me become aware that my glutes and core need extra attention. What I appreciate most is that he looks at the body as a whole, focusing on how the upper and lower body work together rather than isolating movements. I've learned so much from him. Thank you, Victor, for your patience!"

"Viktor is a skilled Functional Patterns practitioner. He's kind and accommodating, goes the extra mile to make sure your body feels great after a session. I haven't run in a few years because running gave me all kinds of discomfort, but this week I found myself having to chase after my kids who were looking for me in the wrong place. I was truly surprised at how easy my body could move, faster than I could remember being able to before, and with no pain at all. That, and I've been getting compliments on my posture! Of all things. It must be a pretty noticeable improvement."

"Viktor is a truly a special trainer. Upon meeting him, I felt comfortable immediately. His presence is easy and gentle natured, but the edge he carries as a trainer is fierce and strong. His skill and understanding of how to support you through strength and mobility training is excellent, and he will ask you to rise with it. I really appreciated the months we spent together training."

"HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I am 40 years old, with chronic back pain, i had an MRI that showed herniated discs. I barely could walk. I tried acupuncture, physical therapy, lots of NSAIDS. I met Vic through FP and he has changed my life in so many ways, I can play with my kids, I can speed walk, I can bend down with no pain, he is very delicate, he is meticulous, he really knows his stuff, and most importantly he genuinely really cares to get u to where u want to be. if you have and pains in ur body, highly recommend Vic"

"I can’t say enough great things about Viktor and the work he does through Functional Patterns. His deep understanding of the body’s biomechanics and how the body is actually designed to move is unmatched. Every workout has purpose, and there’s a huge emphasis on proper form, movement patterns, posture, and long-term health — not just quick results. I’ve noticed improvements not only in strength and fitness, but also in the way my body feels overall. The training focuses on longevity and injury prevention while still helping you achieve the aesthetic and performance goals you want. It’s clear they genuinely care about helping clients move better, feel better, and build sustainable results. If you’re looking for someone who truly understands the body and takes a smarter, more individualized approach to fitness, I highly recommend him."

"Vik has been amazing for helping me improve my scoliosis and reduce pain. He is so nuanced and custom with his approach and deeply cares about the success of his patients. He goes above and beyond to bring new ideas to every session, and I’ve learned so much about my own body, imbalances and tendencies plus how to work on these at home. I feel so much better after each session and couldn’t recommend him more!"

Transform Your Movement, Transform Your Life
This is more than another workout. It's training rooted in human biomechanics, built to address the root cause of dysfunction rather than only the symptoms.
Root-Cause Solution
Address the underlying movement dysfunction driving your pain and limitations, not only the symptoms.
Whole-Body Integration
Train movement as one connected system, the way your body evolved to work, not isolated muscles on machines.
Real-World Progress
Better walking, running, and everyday movement, with less pain and more strength.
Built Around You
Every program is tailored to your body, history, and goals, and adapts step by step as you progress.
A Different Approach: Functional Patterns®
Syracuse Biomechanics is built on the Functional Patterns methodology, a system founded in 2006 by Naudi Aguilar that trains the human body around how it evolved to move.
Conventional fitness trains muscles in isolation. Functional Patterns trains movement: the integrated, whole-body patterns your body relies on to walk, stand, run, and stay pain-free in daily life.
Most modern aches like back pain, hip pain, neck tension, and knee issues aren't random. They're the downstream cost of inefficient gait, posture, and breathing patterns built up over years of sitting, screen time, and repetitive movement. FP works by retraining those underlying patterns from the ground up.
Training focuses on the FP Big 4: Standing, Walking, Running, and Throwing, the four foundational human movements. When those work properly, almost everything else in your body starts working better too.
What Brought Me to Functional Patterns
I am a certified Human Biomechanics Specialist with Functional Patterns (Level 2 / HBS2). What brought me to Functional Patterns training was physical pain.
Verify HBS2 certification on functionalpatterns.app
During a long mountain hike at age 32, intense pain in my back and ankle left me feeling scared about whether I could sustain the movement activities I held dear. As I grew to understand this training system, it was both strangely familiar and unlike any other training I'd experienced.
At the age of 36, my devotion to this training has helped me move better than I ever have. The principles and process of FP have helped me resolve lower back, ankle, and debilitating knee pain to the point that I can now sprint without pain at all.
I have worked with individuals ranging from the ages of 9 to 89+. If you have chronic physical pains and are looking for a solution, I have the patience, knowledge, and precision to help you train your body, slowly, step-by-step, in a direction of sustainable and pain-free movement.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Functional Patterns training in Syracuse.
How is this different from physical therapy?
Physical therapy typically focuses on injury rehabilitation. Functional Patterns addresses the root cause of movement dysfunction by correcting the walking and running mechanics that underlie almost all human movement. The aim is to teach your body to move the way it was designed to, not only to treat symptoms. In working with the body as a whole, injury rehab becomes more effective and sustainable. This is why Functional Patterns is addressing issues such as severe scoliosis and mobility issues from Cerebral Palsy within its repertoire. See @fp.evidence on Instagram for more practice-based evidence of FP results.
Is Functional Patterns right for athletes?
Absolutely. Many athletes develop compensatory patterns that limit performance and increase injury risk. FP helps athletes move more efficiently, reducing energy waste and improving sport-specific output. Whether you're a weekend warrior or competitive athlete, optimizing the foundational patterns benefits everything you do.
Is this suitable for seniors?
Yes, especially so. FP focuses on the movements you use every day: walking, standing, and balancing. The system is scalable to any fitness level and helps maintain independence by improving strength, posture, and coordination. Many older clients see meaningful improvements within weeks.
How long until I see progress?
Most clients notice improvements in posture and movement awareness within the first few sessions. Significant changes in pain levels and movement quality typically show up within four to eight weeks of consistent training, though everyone progresses at their own pace.
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes, for new clients, and it runs a full 60 minutes. The catch is only that it is not bookable straight from the calendar: send me an inquiry quoting the code FREEINITIAL60 and I will arrange a time with you. Full detail on the free consultation page.
Where do sessions take place?
I am currently providing private sessions at 201 E Jefferson St, Suite 317, Syracuse, NY 13202, in downtown Syracuse. Long-distance clients can train remotely via Zoom; head over to the contact page to book.
